Motor vehicle collisions are the number one cause of work-related fatalities. The loss of a valued employee in a collision is a serious concern whether the collision occurs on the job or off the job. The financial, emotional and family impact is serious to the organization as well as to the individual. Neither the federal Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) nor state WISHA has made automobile accidents a primary initiative. The matter has been assigned to the Federal Highway Traffic Safety Administration and State Traffic Safety Commissions to pursue.

The Eversafe Driving Program is for organizations that depend on good employee drivers to compete in today’s busy workplace environment. All organizations have employees who drive to and from work with their privately owned vehicles or during the work shift in a company car or truck or privately owned vehicle. This means that virtually every employee and their families can benefit by participation in this safe driving training.

Course participants will understand:

  • General statistics that demonstrate the extent, costs, and causes of major vehicle crashes and the significance to the business organization
  • The three elements of an accident or crash and the expansion of this model to include a fourth element that has major impact over the other three.
  • How a vehicle and equipment contributes to crashes or adds to the injuries in a crash. Course materials and discussions review the importance of vehicle inspections and maintenance, safety belts and airbags, four wheel drive, antilock brake systems, air brakes, commercial driver’s licenses, vehicle ergonomics and rental cars.
  • The driver’s control over conditions, which include: alcohol and other drugs, drowsiness, aggression, speeding, using a cellular phone and other distractions to driving. Participants also discuss the qualities and hazards associated with both older and younger drivers.
  • How a driver can compensate for external conditions and environmental hazards while driving. These hazards include: following distance, weather, intersections, head-on collisions, freeway work zones, pedestrians, aggressive drivers, road rage, drunk drivers, bicycles, motorcycles, buses, trucks and emergency vehicles.
  • The effect the organization’s culture, leadership, policies and supervision have on vehicles crashes. What supervisors do to contribute to crashes and how changes in your organization will improve driving safety, driver selection, supervising drivers and driver training will be discussed.
  • How to analyze vehicle crash information in ways that determine responsibility after a vehicle crash. Participants learn through class discussion and analyzing various crash exercises how proper crash reporting, investigation and review committees can work to prevent future incidents.

The EVERSAFE DRIVING course stresses the driver’s responsibilities and the organization’s role in safe driving. This course assumes you know how to drive, and how to drive safely. The purpose of the EVERSAFE DRIVING course is to reinforce your employee’s understanding and use of safe driving methods. The training is presented in a 4-hour module.
